This may help also may not. The were / are at least two lines of Newmans in the state of SC, there is a line that appears to have come from England/British Isles. the other line moved to Columbia South Carolina and settled on a plantation named Roselawn, in the Eau Clair section of Columbia. This is the section of town were there is an Newman Street. This line came to the US from the area around Zwiebrucken, Germany in the 1700's settling around Baltimore, Md. The father was Jacob Neuman (Later: Newman) with seven sons, All knew how to make and build piano's. They founded the Newman Piano company at Hollins Court, Baltimore,Maryland. They also held several US patents on piano parts. Any way the family moved to South Carolina without servering Ties in Baltimore. There was a daughter named as my records show and this could be a spelling error Aline Newman 1894-???? daughter of George Wallace Newman and Grace Tally (2nd Wife) Married (Unkn) Zimmerman (see Eau Clair Section Columbia Richland County 1910 census) my line of the Newman clan moved back to Md and later returned to the Spartanburg area before returning to MD in the 1890's. Part of the family are still in Columbria and Richland County. I have seen the name Adeline listed some place.
feel free to contact me if I can be of any help, as this may help me out too.
